Professional mechanical cleaning involves removing dental plaque from tooth surfaces, paying special attention to the areas patients most often overlook when cleaning at home. These usually include the spaces in between teeth and the inner surface of the lower incisors and canines.

Oftentimes pigments from food and drink stain the surface of teeth, which not only detracts from their appearance but can trigger pathological processes like cavities — and are nearly impossible to remove with a toothbrush alone. This procedure only requires minimal tooth filing, and in some cases filing isn’t necessary at all.
