DENTAL BRIDGES

Dental bridges are permanent prosthetic replacements designed to fill the empty space between teeth, to prevent dislocation of the neighbouring teeth, damage to jaw joints or to supporting tissue of teeth.

Dental bridges are placed on top of natural teeth or onto inserteddental implants. They cannot stand on their own as they require a foundation (a firm root of neighbouring teeth) on which they can rest. When they are attached to natural teeth, it is necessary to prepare the neighbouring teeth in order for the bridge to be able to lie firmly (be fixated). After the preparation, an impression of the tooth is taken in order for the dental crown to be made.

CROWN ON A BRIDGE

Dental bridges consist of two or more connected crowns that are fixated on top of natural teeth or dental implants. The crowns can be made out of ceramics on metal, pure ceramics or zircon ceramics. The choice depends on the aesthetic features we want to achieve.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DENTAL BRIDGES AND DENTAL IMPLANTS?

A dental implant functions primarilyas a replacement for a natural tooth, while the bridge consists of series of crowns. Crowns are attached onto implants, they make up a dental bridge or are attached to a partially demolished tooth.

Some of the advantages of a dental bridge are: excellent appearance, they do not cause problems when talking, they take less time to make.
