TREATMENT AND THERAPY
Treating periodonal diseases is based on removing everything that is causing local irritation and preventing the creation of plaque deposits, which caused gum inflammation.
This includes removing dental tartar, cleaning the “pockets”, removing the bad fillings and prosthetic replacements with new ones. If abscess is present, antibiotics are also prescribed.
The patient and the specialist periodontist arrange a therapy plan, i.e. a periodontal treatment.
Early stages of the periodontal disease can be curedwithout any consequences with proper toothbrushing and flossing. Advanced stages of the disease require additional procedures.

PERIODONTAL TREATMENTS
There are two treatment methods, depending on the assessment from the periodontist. If the conservative methods do not lead to full recovery and a surgical procedure is deemed necessary, surgical methods are used.
Conservative methods:
- Detailed education on oral hygiene.
- Deepcleaning of dental tartar and the deposits and root polishing
- Initial therapy
Surgical methods:
- Reduction of pockets
- Regeneration of bone and tissue
- Reshaping the gingiva and lengthening the tooth crown
- Connective tissue transplants
- Bone transplant

INITIAL THERAPY
Before starting the periodontal therapy, we give our patients very detailed education about the disease and of proper ways of maintaining the oral hygiene as it is crucial that the patient is motivated and cooperative.
The aim of the initial therapy is a set of procedures conducted under the surveillance of a periodontist in order to stop the progression of the disease and to preserve the health of the teeth.
